FANS FORUM WITH THE CHAIRMAN TO BE HELD ON THURSDAY 20TH APRIL

15 April 2017

Stevenage Chairman, Phil Wallace is holding a Fans Forum event on Thursday 20th April in the Broadhall Suite, starting at 7pm.

All Boro fans are welcome and entrance is free, with the club intending to bring everyone up to date on a range of issues.

These include, squad plans for next season, the latest on next season’s cup competitions – including the EFL Trophy – and most importantly, the latest position on the club’s lease and ability to improve the stadium.

Phil Wallace said, “We always enjoy the forums. It is a chance for supporters to ask anything they like, as long as it is football related.

“The answers will always be straight forward and honest. This includes the situation over the lease and our relationship with the council.

“Hopefully by the time we get to the meeting, we will know where we stand and we will be able to report some positive news after the council’s solicitors met with the Football Foundation’s solicitors for the first time last week.

“It is frustrating that it has taken 18 months to take this crucial step, but at least now it has happened and we are appreciative of that.

“The outcome of that meeting will determine the club’s future; it is as simple as that. The council have said that they want to help, but so far nothing positive has been forthcoming to solve the problem.

“We lose the Football Foundation grant on 2nd June, which will be a travesty for the town, let alone the club.

"If the lease held by the club doesn’t allow for the Foundation to gift us £500,000 to improve facilities, and/or for the club to secure mortgages to develop facilities in the future, then there really is no point in having a club in Stevenage.

“It needs vision and determination to find a way. There are a thousand towns in England that would love to have a successful, stable, EFL club at the heart of its community. It would be a sacrilege if the council pushed the self-destruct button on ours.”
