Darren Sarll reflected on Boro’s first dropped points at home of 2017, as Morecambe came away with a 1-0 win at the Lamex Stadium on Good Friday.
The manager was most unhappy with a lack of spark in his teams play, particularly during the first half.
“When I come into the ground or turn up somewhere as manager of Stevenage, I am excited by what lies ahead, really excited about what lies ahead.
“The biggest disappointment for me first half is I didn’t see that in our play." Sarll said.
“That was a big emotion missing from our play. It was a bit flat, stale, we didn’t move the ball quick enough, and we didn’t have the frequency of movement or frequency or pressurisation when losing the ball.
“We have set an expectation, we have set a standard. We have raised the bar and people are coming now to see the bar that has been raised, not the one that we had to start from.
“We all as human beings go through different periods in a season or different periods in life where we are at our very best and sometimes we drop down from that.”
Despite the defeat, the boss was keen to point to the positives as we head towards the final few games of the season nestled amongst the play-off pack.
“We need to remember who we are, remember what we did and remind ourselves of why we were so sustainable in winning. We need to flick that winning mechanic again to enable us to finish strong.
“There is four to go. We were pretty lucky in terms of the results around us and it means we are still competitive.
“From that point of view, if I was a supporter of the football club, your team is sixth at the moment and still in a really good place.
“I just think we have not met expectation today, an expectation that has been raised significantly over the last two months.”
